We had this CD-ROM when I was a kid, back when you still called them CD-ROMs, called Ancient Lands. It was an interactive encyclopedia on ancient Greece, Egypt and Rome.
I’ve never heard about pomegranates before Ancient Lands and now I’ve got one from Coles. I feel like Caesar.
It’s kind of a round, squat, pinkish-purple thing. How do I eat it?
Are you kidding me, Google? I have to chop off the top, score it, soak it in water for ten minutes, break it up, sieve it, and then eat it while being very careful not to stain myself?
I bet I never eat this fruit again.
Okie-dokie… top chopped off… score… into the water…
Oh, a loose seed thing that the internet tells me I am supposed to eat. Into my mouth with you!
Um… hmm. Not loving it. Especially not sure about the crunchy bit. Eat around that. But there’s no much around that! Oh well… maybe in ten minutes it will be better…
*time lapse*
Breaking it up is kind of fun! The seeds are very firm, not at all squishy… maybe mine is not ripe as there is no chance at all of being stained.
Pop one into mouth. Slight softness, quick tart taste, then unpleasant crunch on the hard inner bit.
Do it a few more times.
I throw my pith in the bin, put the other 97% of the pomegranate in the fridge for future procrastination, and go eat a banana.
Rating:
Specifics: raw fruit bought in a Coles supermarket
